What Customers Say About D-Link DWL-G820 Wireless Gaming Adapter, 802.11g, 108Mbps:

The only gotcha is that it cannot be configured with a connectiin to a machine that is using MS Silverlight. This is an excellent product for turning a wired ethernet port into a wireless port. I have used them for networking printers and for connecting a Linux machine that wouldn't work with USB wireless adapters. The only way I was able to figure this out was to find a reference to another D-Link device on their website that said it wouldn't configure with Silverlight. I turned off Silverlight and was able to configure it normally.
I purchased this item to tie into my Direct Tv DVr to beta their On Demand Service. It works fine. a little convoluted to set up but once it was set up at my PC , I moved it to the TV and it worked great.
Bought adapter to attached my DirecTV DVR to my network. My wife just connected a new HP printer to the network, as a novice she would not have been able to hook up the D-Link without help. For me it does not run particularly hot and has been stable since being installed a week ago. I believe not all versions of the Linksys adapter support WPA. Given the ongoing price drops with electronics I am surprised the adapter has gone up in price here at Amazon since I bought it. According to the documentation if I was on a fully D-Link system configuration would be automatic, can not vouch for that. Everything else on the network is Linksys but the form factor and WPA encryption made this device an attractive choice. Did have to upgrade the G820 firmware to 2.20 to get the thing to work.
Took me about a hour to get everything working together. This device fails the wife test. The small size makes the G820 a perfect fit and the throughput is fine. Don't think it was onsale when I bought it.
i have had this product for almost a month now and i have had zero problems with it. it is always connected to my router and delivers great speed. when playing Call Of Duty 4 i always have a full signal.
The device seems easy enough to set up, but I returned it within hours after discovering that it does not support AES as a cipher with WPA-PSK. Even though the D-Link website claims it does, after getting bounced around their tech support line for an hour a 2nd level person told me it does not actually support that recommended that I run the less secure TKIP cipher. nice. Guess I will give the Linksys a try.
